Let's Take Foxfire to the Next Level!!!
Imagine…it’s 1974, and you are a high school student who just signed the papers to buy a tract of land in Mountain City, Georgia. Why? So you and your classmates can preserve Appalachian cabins and culture. It had to have seemed like a crazy plan at the time, but here we are 50 years after the purchase of The Land, and the Foxfire Village Museum continues to thrive.
Look at what Foxfire accomplished in the last year:
* Children’s Village Expansion: this dedicated space allows children to explore beyond
screens and connect with Appalachian life and heritage.
* Reeves Pavilion Opening: this beautiful pavilion hosts a variety of community events
and live music performances, celebrating Appalachian arts and traditions.
* Fantastic Summer Leadership Program Participation: students continue to
collect oral histories, create content for our magazine, and learn valuable
leadership skills based in cultural preservation.
* Renewed collaboration: with local schools to involve students in experiential learning.
These milestones are only possible because of generous supporters like YOU! As we celebrate
the Village Museum’s 50th anniversary, we invite you to join our 50 for 50 Campaign. Your gift
of at least $50, or for those who are able, a monthly recurring gift of $50 or more will support our
mission to sustain Appalachian history for future generations. Our Annual Appeal goal is
$100,000 to invest in expanding our educational resources for students, enhancing the
visitor experience, and restoring historic cabins.
Foxfire is a treasure, but it shouldn’t be a hidden treasure. The power of living history is
transformative. It shows us how our past contributes to who we are and what we can become.
Thank you in advance for considering a gift to Foxfire’s Annual Appeal. Joining our 50 for 50
Campaign will make an immediate impact. Help us secure the future of Foxfire for the next
50 years by sending in your gift today or by donating online at foxfire.org!
